About us

Glin is a picturesque village in west Limerick on the Shannon estuary. Glin pier is one of the village's main attractions, and when the lifeguards are on duty in the Summer months it boasts huge crowds. Glin Estuary Swim Club is made up of local swimmers.

We have two main events. We do a charity swim annually in aid of a different cause each year. This involves swimming from the shores of Clare back to Glin pier. The swim is different from year to year with the tides and currents to take into consideration. This is the fun part. Each swimmer gets a fundraising card and begins to train at Glin pier months in advance of the swim. The date of the swim varies from year to year. We are very grateful to the boat crews that volunteer their time to us each year. Without them there would be no swim.

Tri Glin is a new event which was held for the first time in July 2013. As a result of it's success in 2013, we have decided to make it an annual event. This is a triathlon which you can enter alone or in a team of three. All details of Tri Glin can be found on the Facebook page of the same name.

It is very important to note that these are amateur events. The main purpose of the swim and triathlon is to raise much needed funds for charity.
